They're both brilliant instrumentalists, both steeped in old-time music, and admirer's of each other's work (as well as old friends). So it's no wonder that Norman Blake and Peter Ostroushko spent a few days in late 2000 hanging out and playing tunes at Norman's home in Georgia, then made this lovely, low-key album together. It's just the two of them (joined on four tracks by Nancy Blake on cello), leisurely picking their way through some great old fiddle tunes, country songs and a few originals. Norman and Peter create such a consistent mood throughout this album that you'll feel transported to another time and place... maybe a Georgia farmhouse a hundred years ago, sitting between a fiddler and a guitarist as they share their favorite tunes. |
